Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using CodeMask. By using CodeMask, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using CodeMask, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use CodeMask.

2. License

CodeMask is licensed under the MIT License. This means:

  • You are free to use, modify, and distribute CodeMask in accordance with the MIT License terms.
  • The software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
  • You can view the full license text at GitHub.

3. Use of the Software

CodeMask is a local-first application designed to help you mask sensitive information in code and text before sharing with AI models. You agree to:

  • Use CodeMask in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Not use CodeMask for any illegal, harmful, or malicious purposes.
  • Take responsibility for the security and backup of your data.

4. No Warranty

CodeMask is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CodeMask and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of CodeMask.

6. Data Responsibility

Since CodeMask operates entirely locally on your device:

  • You are solely responsible for the security and backup of your data.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your mapping files and encryption keys.
  • CodeMask does not transmit or store your data on external servers.

7. Open Source Contributions

If you contribute to the CodeMask open source project:

  • You grant the project maintainers a license to use, modify, and distribute your contributions under the MIT License.
  • You represent that you have the right to grant such a license.
  • Contributions are subject to the project's contribution guidelines and code of conduct.

8. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of CodeMask after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Termination

You may stop using CodeMask at any time. Since CodeMask is a local application, you can simply uninstall it from your device. There are no accounts to cancel or services to terminate.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
